I recently had the pleasure of participating in an interview and photo shoot for Newsday’s LI Home cover page “How Big How High How Bright…Rule of Thumb for Room Décor” January 16, 2015 with my professional Design Cartel Colleague, Adrienne Kessel. (Adrienne Kessel Interiors, Port Jerfferson, NY)

Joan loves the seashore. In fact, her favorite pastimes are relaxing on the beach in the late afternoon sun and gardening in her backyard.

The Theme of Joan’s kitchen redesign incorporates both her loves.

How did we achieve this new look? We focused on Light and Color

By expanding north facing wall, we tripled her counter space. Transforming this newly expanded wall to a knee wall connected Joan to her Family/Guests and allowed extra light to spill into kitchen.

Next: remove outdated dentil molding and timbered ceilings.
