Joan loves the seashore. In fact, her favorite pastimes are relaxing on the beach in the late afternoon sun and gardening in her backyard.
The Theme of Joan’s kitchen redesign incorporates both her loves.
How did we achieve this new look? We focused on Light and Color
By expanding north facing wall, we tripled her counter space. Transforming this newly expanded wall to a knee wall connected Joan to her Family/Guests and allowed extra light to spill into kitchen.
Next: remove outdated dentil molding and timbered ceilings.
Color is a powerful element. By painting the walls a cool blue, the room appears to expand.
White cabinetry complete with glass shelving and under-mount lighting on dimmers completes the theme.
Floors were refinished to a darker hue to compliment cabinetry.
Pops of blue and yellow accessories heighten the look.
Finally, changing size and shape of dining table and emphasizing roundness with chandelier complete the transformation.
Joan’s personal touches can be found throughout her serene space –plants and herbs spill from counters to tabletops and delight in the late afternoon sun.
